Electro-chemistry is tough to teach and this lab manual provides complete explanations of electric current, redox reactions, electrochemical cells (galvanic cells), electrolysis, electroplating, and applications of electro-chemistry in the real world. Most importantly, though, the manual provides inquiry styled experiments that use commonly available materials that are cheap to purchase, allowing the students to discover the principles on their own without breaking the bank. The experiments were developed and tested while working with the guidance of experienced engineers and chemists at Faraday Technology, and the activities provide a means for students to solve problems without following the standard text book "recipe" method. The manual provides explanations of the science in each of the inquiry activities as well as pictures and diagrams of the set-ups. The entire manual was written on Microsoft Word and converted to a PDF for use on this website.
