Product Description
Expert of the Day is a daily practice in morning meetings in Lean Learner classrooms. This is a a short (no more than 5 minute long) presentation given by a student about a predetermined topic. The purpose of this exercise is to help student’s further develop their sense of self confidence, voice, and their presentation skills with a fun and engaging topic. Additionally, we have found that Expert of the Day presentations are an excellent way to build your classroom community.

The topics included in this packet are designed to help give students more insight into the lives, feelings, hopes, dreams, and interests of their fellow classmates. Not only does this help students learn more about their peers, but they also get to connect with others at a deeper, more understanding level. Some of these prompts are focused purely on fun and light-hearted topics, while others are more personal and ask the presenter to dig deeper and become more vulnerable. Only you can decide what types of prompts are most appropriate for your students.

These prompts can be selected/assigned so as to address a certain issue that is currently ongoing in the classroom. You can have someone present on “How to be a good friend,” if there are issues of bullying or on “How to walk in a line,” if students are being disruptive in the hall. Overall, this daily activity is meant to be short and simple, serve as an excellent way to address classroom problems, create a sense of community in your classroom, and, most importantly, empower your students.
