This lesson addresses the skill of identifying and explaining the function of nouns. For simplicity purposes (for third graders!), this lesson categorizes direct objects, indirect objects, and objects of a preposition solely as “objects”. This lesson features the following elements: definition with examples, teacher model problems (including a strategy to help students master the skill), guided practice, exit problems, an independent worksheet, and a review practice. Prerequisite skills: able to identify nouns and action verbs of a sentence.
