Product Description
This is an explanatory text for making a dough ornament with 3 ingredients: flour, salt, and water. I wrote it with 2nd grade in mind, but it can be used in other grades. There are 5 text-dependent questions that go along with the passage.

I have done this in my class and all the steps work. One thing I recommend is to tell the students to not make their ornaments too thin! If 1cm thick or more, these are pretty strong ornaments as long as they're careful. With this recipe, it makes enough for a team of 4 students to share the dough and each make 2 ornaments out of it.

We read the passage, make our own ornaments, then write our own explanatory text about how to make an ornament.
