I used this lesson pack at Thanksgiving, but it would work for Christmas, Valentine's Day, or just anytime. I have been doing this for years as my mother did this with us since I was a kid. The final product that is mailed will make you cry tears of joy.
I am piloting Standards Based grading for my district this year. Each day, I focus on a different standard with a skill or subsoil.
These lessons include many parts: Essential Vocabulary (Tree Map, Flow Map, coherent, succinct), Essential Question based on the term, "I can..." statement based on standard (see list of ELA standards), lesson slides (step-by step directions), Exit Slips (self-assessment for students and for you to see where they think they are), and Homework slide if needed.
My lessons incorporate Thinking Maps and Kagen strategies. If you are not familiar with them, my slides will take you step by step. This unit also contains TPT (Total Participation Technique) cards.
I am a sixth grade teacher, but the same standards are in seventh and eighth grade.
