***This resource has been updated as of August 7, 2017 due to the Hudson Bay website no longer being aligned to the original webquest I created. The first website is still accessible!
If you have already purchased this resource you may download it again to have the new webquest for your students.
This resource includes two webquest scavenger hunts for Canadian explorers. The first is designed for the website http://www.masters.ab.ca/bdyck/early-canada/explorers/ - the explorers covered are Cabot, Cartier, Frobisher, Champlain, and Hudson. Students will complete activities for each one which consists of a True or False and a Fill-in-the-blanks activity. There is also a "What did you Learn?" question section at the end of the webquest.
The second webquest is designed to use with the website http://www.thecanadianencylopedia,ca and includes many biographical articles about figures in Canadian history. The explorers covered in the webquest are Brule, Nicollet, Groseilliers, Radisson, Kelsey, Hearne, La Verendrye, and Mackenzie. Students will complete a Jeopardy-type activity where answers are provided and they construct the questions. Answer keys are included.
Both websites were designed with upper elementary students in mind and the reading level is appropriate, although the Canadian Encyclopedia entries might be a little for challenging for some students.
Please check out my store for more explorer units, and many resources for Canadian social studies classrooms.
