This packet allows students to explore the characteristics of living and nonliving things.
Students begin by drawing a living and nonliving thing. Then they consider the needs/behaviors of living and nonliving things. Students will reflect on their findings: noticing that while most living things move, some nonliving things can also move (e.g. cars). Finally, students can determine that one defining feature of living things is that they grow at some point during their life in order to reproduce.
