This webquest / virtual field trip / hypderdoc asks students to read about and identify rural and urban land use with Google Maps 360 degree street view photos.
This activity is differentiated and includes simple and advanced versions. The simple version contains a table describing rural and urban land uses, with links to several examples in Google Maps. Students view the examples and make observations about rural and urban environments. Then students are given 12 links to different rural and urban settings and asked to identify each.
The advanced version covers rural and urban environments, as well as these other land use categories: suburban, agricultural, mining, conservation, industrial, transportation, utilities, and public service. In the advanced version, students read about each type of land use, view examples, and make observations. A chart with 20 links to different sites in Google Maps street view asks students to make observations and determine which type of land use is being shown.
MS Word, Google Docs, and answer key included in purchase.
