PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This activity asks students to use Google Maps or Earth on an iPad, computer, laptop, or personal device to explore the features of the ocean floor.

Students will zoom in to North America to draw the continental shelf, fly over the Hawaiian Islands to see their volcanic island formation, find the Marianas Trench in the Pacific Ocean, and draw the rift valley forming between North America and Europe in the Atlantic Ocean.

Note that Google Maps is a free internet based program, while Google Earth requires a download and installation. Google Maps is the better choice for younger students as it is easier to navigate.
