In this lesson, students will review information about six European explorers. They will then use a decision-making matrix with student-generated criteria to determine which three of the explorers they would invite to a dinner party and why. As an extension, students can determine the seating chart for the dinner party as well as what they would serve.
By using criteria to determine who will be at their dinner party, students will gain a solid knowledge of the accomplishments of these six explorers:
Hernando de Soto
A lesson plan, blank decision-making grid, information sheets about the explorers, and a dinner table template are included in this lesson.
