This is a culminating scavenger hunt activity for students to role play as explorers in small groups! There is a page of clues for each explorer in this order: Columbus, Cabot, Balboa, de Leon, Cartier, and Hudson. Each set of clues is a different color. The clues about their voyages lead them around the school to different locations for the next clue in their adventure. Upon returning to homeroom, they must identify which explorer they were using all the clues they received. Some of the reading levels are more difficult than others, so you can group your students accordingly. I recommend copying each set of explorer cards on different colored paper or card stock if you don't want to print in color. You will have to recruit other teachers to be the locations for each explorer...but it's fun! You can add props if you want to make it even more exciting. The kids had a blast! So do the teachers. I did this for the first time this year, and several of the teachers were talking about dressing up and finding ways to participate more instead of just handing out the clues.
