Description
This is an introductory digital lesson plan for geometric transformations. In this lesson, students will be introduced to 4 basic transformations:
•Reflections
•Translations
•Rotations
•Dilations
•Learning Targets:
•Students describe different types of geometric transformations.
•Students can use geometric software to map a preimage onto its image.
Materials: device with internet, google account
Vocabulary for preimage and image are introduced followed by a formative assessment asking students to describe different transformations that they see. Each transformation is then described at an introductory level with an example. Students then explore each transformation online by watching a video and then trying the transformations themselves. Students then complete a lesson summary and self assessment to process what they have learned. There are 5 practice problems at the end of the lesson for an assignment or homework.
NOTES:
•If you would not like your students to have the answers to grade as they go, simply delete those slides before sharing the file with your students.
•Note: Lesson format is compatible with Google slides®
•Answer keys included
•Pages: 36 slides + 17 pages investigation, 2 teacher note pages
•Duration: 45 minutes
