This product has 3 different activities to help students understand one-variable, one-step inequalities.
-- Students are given no variables in this activity but explore the effect of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing on each side of the inequality. This is to help students understand why we reverse the inequality symbol when multiplying or dividing by negatives.
Equation or Inequality
-- Some students struggle with deciding if the a word problem calls for an equation or an inequality. This word sort helps students learn to identify words that indicate inequality situations vs. equation situations.
Inequality Card Match
-- Designed to allow students to match one variable, one step inequalities, their solution and the graphical representation on a number line. Many numbers are repeated so students must solve to match. A recording sheet is also provided.
