This lesson integrates Product Design, sustainability, invention, 3-D Art, Form, Function, Composition, Teamwork, Marketing, Economics, Recycling, and the artist Andrea Zittel. Students will be researching inventions and inventors throughout time. Students will work together to discuss basic needs and conflicts they have in their everyday lives through brainstorming. Students will use their own obstacles and conflicts they have to create a collaborative invention that would assist their conflict of choice. As a group, students will assign jobs and production methods to each other and work together to form a 3-D Model of their invention, an advertisement they would market to the public in a main stream magazine and also have a brief market pitch that would showcase the inventions purpose, price, material use, and why this invention could change the way we live.
This Lesson Bundle includes a power point on artist Andrea Zittel, a full lesson plan, a rubric worksheet, and a student worksheet for planning and inspiration ideas.
