Explore the properties of solids by comparing and contrasting the nets that form them.
In this activity, students analyze several potential nets for the following four solids:
-Day 1: cubes and rectangular prisms
-Day 2: square prisms and triangular prisms
Each day consists of cutting out and comparing nets, completing an accompanying worksheet, and then doing the assignment at home.
Students manipulate figures and gain a tangible knowledge of the properties that make up a proper net. This activity encourages higher level thinking and student conversation/interaction.
This activity has been classroom tested and student approved. I would love to hear your feedback after you try it in your classroom.
