This activity is a great tool to use as stations in your classroom. Remember the saying "one man's junk is another man's treasure?" Truer words have never been spoken in a math classroom! Gather up your old Kleenex boxes, cereal boxes, and any other rectangular prisms/cubes, and send your students on an exploration using volume. They will measure each of the shapes and determine the volume of each, which will help develop a concrete understanding of how the size of a shape relates to the volume. Use this as an engaging activity, or as an informal assessment!
