This bundle contains each of the following items:
LAWS OF EXPONENTS EXPLORATIONS
These four activities lead students step-by-step discover for themselves the laws of exponents. Students are guided through examples that lead them to creating rules that will always work to perform different operations with exponents. This is an amazing way to help students remember and actually understand the laws of exponents.
EXPONENTIAL GROWTH AND DECAY EXPLORATION
This packet guides students through real-world uses of exponential models, such as half-life, population growth, and financial formulas. Students create charts, sketch graphs, write equations, and make predictions based on different situations.
This includes both a presentation of notes slides (in both PDF and Promethean formats) and a file (in PDF format) for printing guided notes for students.
This vocabulary sheet is an excellent way for students to students remember the vocabulary terms in this unit. It is especially helpful for students whose first language is not English.
This activity gives students the opportunity to practice in pairs. Although both students are doing different problems, they will both get the same answer to each problem. This is an amazing way to ensure that everyone in the room understands material.
Everyone’s favorite quiz game includes a game board that keeps track of which questions have already been used. This is a great way to review laws of exponents.
This is a great way to get students out of their seats and working together in small teams to review the laws of exponents. (Maze is also known as a “Go-To” Game or Scavenger Hunt.)
Like Maze, this review gets students out of their seats and working together in small teams. This activity contains more of a fantasy element with some great graphics. Also, this is an entire unit review of exponential functions, not just laws of exponents.
Like NumeriQuest, this reviews laws of exponents and exponential functions. This out-of-your-seat, small group activity has students solving problems in order to obtain alibis for people, places, and mathematical “weapons” so they can solve a crime.
WHAT’S YOUR LINE?
This is another out-of-your-seat, small group activity. This one is by far the most entertaining for students because their answers give them clues to a biography of a famous person. Unlike the other reviews, this one focuses strictly on exponential functions (without any laws of exponents questions).
