To help students practice exponent rules (power, product, quotient, zero and negative exponent rules) to simplify expressions.
Print out the 12 pages that list the problems and the solutions. Shuffle these papers and hang them around the classroom or workspace. Each student will need a double sided copy of the worksheet (the last 2 pages of this file). Have the students pick a starting point (it doesn’t matter where the students begin)—in the first box on their worksheet, the student will work out the solution to the problem in the bottom right hand corner. They will write their final answer on the solution line of the first box on their worksheet and they will write down the picture they see in the top right hand corner. Then the students will find their solution on a different paper in the top left corner and they will see another problem to solve. The students should make it back to the first paper they started at if they solve all of the questions correctly.
