    How is this different from a typical unit?

    This unit is designed to build conceptual understanding of exponential functions and make the learning stick. You will find activities and tasks that make students think. Students learn the concepts through problem solving and doing math. Options for differentiation are included as well. Several of the activities are included with printable and Google Slides versions.

    Note: This unit does not go deep into compound interest, but does touch on the basic concept. (Many Algebra 1 standards do not require advanced work with compound interest. Check your area to be sure!)

    Construct linear and exponential functions, including arithmetic and geometric sequences, given a graph, a description of a relationship, or two input-output pairs (include reading these from a table).
    Recognize situations in which a quantity grows or decays by a constant percent rate per unit interval relative to another.
    Recognize situations in which one quantity changes at a constant rate per unit interval relative to another.
    Prove that linear functions grow by equal differences over equal intervals, and that exponential functions grow by equal factors over equal intervals.
