This activity has 32 cards of numbers raised to the second, third, or fourth degree and their corresponding roots. The students cut the cards apart, write the answers on the back, and test each other with the flash cards.
The flash cards can be used between partners for a few minutes each day until the students reach mastery. The repetition makes the concept of exponents and roots easier to remember and understand. When the students are testing each other, they can make piles of "got it" (when they know the answers) and "not yet" (for those they need to practice more).
The cards may be printed on cardstock so they are more durable and not as easy to see through.
An alternative to using these as flash cards, the students, individually or in pairs, may sort the equation cards with the answer cards.
Answers are included.
