Logarithms and Exponents in a Game of Spoons
Games in math class are always a +
Student engagement with the content increases
Students get excited about coming to class
Students share that enthusiasm
Games engage more of the class
Games allow for informal assessment
Games make you cool (just kidding about this one, you are already cool)
Played like the game of “Spoons,” this small group activity gives students an opportunity to review Logarithmic and Exponential Expressions. They won’t even realize they are learning!
This set of cards includes 48 cards, 16 sets of three different cards that match a logarithmic expression to an exponential expression and a value for x.
The goal is to get a complete set of 3 cards that includes a logarithmic expression, an exponential expression and a value that satisfies both expressions.
Also included are more ideas for how to use these cards.
