This is a unit of work on exposition writing containing 21 lessons that are taught using the scaffolding literacy approach. The unit has been situated within a larger inquiry/integrated unit on Australia's celebrations and commemorations, symbols, emblems and the Australian flag. This builds the field for students allowing them to have a deep understanding of the issues and topics they will be writing about and supports them in writing strong persuasive texts with a clear purpose and audience in mind, as well as a clear text structure and use of key language features at sentence and word level.
NOTE: This unit of work on exposition writing can be easily adapted to any inquiry/integrated unit.
Happy teaching!! :)
