This graphic organizer helps students structure body paragraphs for expository essays. It walks students through how to decide on a topic sentence, pick evidence to support the topic sentence, and how to analyze the evidence (something students tend to struggle with). It was written originally for 9th grade social studies class but can easily be modified for younger and older grades. It works best when modeled, however, the first page of the packet has brief written instructions. Students should already have a prompt and a thesis statement prior to working on this graphic organizer. This graphic organizer is meant for body paragraphs, it does not include anything on how to write introduction or conclusion paragraphs.
