PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This preview showcases the first six activities of a two week unit that focuses on expository reading and writing skills. "Homework: Overkill or Essential?" was developed for seventh grade but can be adapted for other grades. Students explore the debate about homework. Students learn to distinguish between social issues and understand how opinions are influenced by reading a variety of articles. The final writing assignment asks students to demonstrate understanding of the homework debate, to take a position, and present it in the format of a persuasive letter for their school board.
