Here's a checklist for teachers or students to use when proofreading or grading expository essays.
How do I use the chart? I use the chart to mark student error numbers (column 1) in the margin of their essays or paragraphs. I keep a tally of the amount of errors in the last column.
This way, I'm not writing all over their essays, plus, they know what kind of error they need to correct.
This is designed for use with the STAAR test, but you can modify it to suit your needs. It is designed for two body paragraphs with two examples. I recommend that each student have at least two sentences of elaboration for each example.
Buy this in addition to my Show me the TEXT (or how to write a paragraph) packet.
