This booklet is created to help a 4th grade teacher in Texas teach Expository Writing. The book starts with understanding a prompt, brainstorming ideas, and then creating a plan sheet using a specific graphic organizer. Each page following is a step-by-step guide on how to fill in the graphic organizer and what to include in each paragraph of an expository composition. Also, there is a self-reflection checklist for the writer to use upon completing their expository, a revising and editing page for them to use as a resource before final publishing, and a kid-friendly STAAR rubric.
This can be used in two ways: either as a reference guide for the teacher to create lessons from OR printed and stapled as a booklet for students to use during writing workshop!
