*Students will begin to learn how to conduct research of a water animal that uses echolocation.
*After reading the book, The Magic School Bus: The Wild Whale Watch, we begin researching whales and dolphins that use echolocation to coordinate with our sound/science unit.
*Each student selects a whale or dolphin from the given list in the project and then goes to the website indicated on the project--World Book Online Encyclopedia has been a great source
*After students print out their information from the online source, they begin highlighting the important parts for the project--
1. What it eats
2.Physical characteristics--what it looks like
3. Size of animal
4. Animal Habitat
5. Where does it roam or live?
6. Interesting facts
*Students then begin working on writing complete sentences to answer their questions. This document can be copied as a rough draft and then recopied for a final/neat copy.
*Lastly, students sketch and color a picture of their water animal.
Have a whale of a time!
