This simple acronym is a guide for your students to express their views in writing.
Suggested Uses and Teaching Tips:
• Use the VIEW writing guide to help students revise a piece of persuasive writing independently, with a partner, or with a small group.
• Using this guide may require you to explicitly teach the terms precise, vague, clarity, revision, evaluate, weigh, diction, mood, and tone.
• Depending upon the level of your class you might consider simplifying some of the steps. You might also consider chunking these steps and doing each one with the class instead of asking students to do all of the steps on their own the first time. These guides can (and should) be modified to differentiate instruction based on the needs of the students in your class.
