This unit discusses the vocabulary and translating of expressions and equations, evaluating equations, translating inequalities, sorting math operation vocabulary for translations, sorting and translating math sentences, and worksheets for class warm-ups homeworks, guided practice, and independent practice. Guided notes for an interactive notebook discuss the vocabulary and terms for the unit. Translating of expressions, equations, and inequalities is practiced in various formats, and includes a sort for common operation terms used in translations. Students practice distinguishing between expressions, inequalities, and equations in more than one format, and a sort is also included. A unit review or practice test provides a summative assessment. Students are given various formats of both guided and independent practices in this unit. I have used this unit in both the general education and special education classroom for middle school math. Aligns with the Virginia SOL standards.
