Seven problems, each having two incorrect solutions or steps.
There are two types of problems being reviewed:
1. Percent Problems (Example: students write two expressions for a problem involving discount, understanding that price (p) - .20p is the same as .80p)
2. Simplifying algebraic expressions, such as 2x - 5(x+2)
Students find and explain what errors were made, then show work and explain how to solve the problems correctly.
These worksheets can be used as warm-ups or, copied double-sided, they can be given for homework.
They also work great for partner worksheets as in-class practice. Students quickly realize these are common errors, and many students have made the same mistakes before.
