Looking for ways to challenge your children's vocabulary?
As children move from middle primary to upper primary years, their language acquisition skills become increasingly important and necessary for progression.
Besides spelling programs, children need to be exposed to common and challenging words to help them extend their vocabulary and prepare them for assessments.
This list of 26 words has been derived from the NAPLAN list of difficult and challenging word sorts. These words have been proven to improve student performance in writing assessments.
Each word comes with the pronunciation, parts of speech and definition.
I have used this template to cut and paste each word on a ghost template for a halloween theme. The kids love it and my classroom now looks fantastic and relevant! Each week we focus on a different word and try to incorporate it in all our literacy activities.
Hope you enjoy!
