This document includes a total of 70 sentences in Spanish which model the imperfect tense in the following contexts:
Attitudes and Desires
Location and Weather
Date and Time.
Translations of all 70 Spanish sentences are included. The vocabulary used in the creation of these models is based on the textbook ¡Así se dice! 2.
I wrote these examples because I found that students had a hard time remembering to use the imperfect in these circumstances with only one model sentence and few practice questions provided by the textbook.
Once I present the sentences to them I ask everyone to write 3 sentences for each category. A peer reviews the sentences for errors. Students then compile a second draft with corrections and I collect the work. Most students don't have time to complete the second draft in class so I ask them to finish it for homework. I collect both drafts.
A good follow up to this activity is Extra Practice: Imperfect Tense #2.
