"Extra Yarn" by Mac Burnett is one of my all-time favorite children's books! If you are not familiar with the story, you can watch a read aloud here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ykRfsECYlo&feature=youtu.be
This lesson is designed to be presented AFTER either reading the book or watching the YouTube video read aloud. This product includes a presentation that summarizes the story with adorable clipart, explains the definition of generosity, and offers several examples of generosity. The lesson includes the link to a short inspirational video clip that is another wonderful example of giving and generosity. There are several opportunities for "turn and talks" and discussion questions about the story, the video, and the concept of generosity. Also included is a precious craftivity that asks students to write an example of generosity from their own lives and to create a cute Anabelle of their own. These are perfect to display in the hallway! In case you don't have time for the craftivity, a worksheet is also included that asks students to write about and draw a picture of a time they were generous.
I hope that your Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students love this lesson as much as mine did! :)
PS If you liked this lesson, you would also love this one: (another one of my all-time fav books!)
