PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

I do this activity with 1st graders after we read, "Extra Yarn" by Mac Barnett. We talk about imagination, creativity, and persevering especially when things get challenging or when we need to challenge ourselves our brains grow and we get smarter.

I first have the students draw an outline of what they would do with their extra yarn in black. Then they choose a color of yarn and then cut it into pieces to fit their outline. They then glue the pieces of yarn into their outline and then share it with the class.
