This unit looks at what makes an environment extreme, why it is important we know and understand the characteristics of these environments, and how life can exist and survive these environments. The 5 extreme environments looked at in this unit are Deserts, Polar Regions, Deep Sea, Volcanoes, and Space. This unit focuses on cooperative learning, where with guidance from the teacher the students learn and teach each other through various forms of conversation, projects, reports, and presentations. This unit is suited for grades 5 and above. I have attached my detailed lesson plans in paragraph form describing the order of what I did, why I chose to do it that way, and the results from each lesson. I used an assortment of assessment techniques, including self and peer assessment. I have also included all of the work sheets I used, as well as the criteria I set for my students, and links to various videos. I have included a link to my introduction video for the group project.
