If a student relies on eye gaze to communicate, this is a quick and easy visual for any person to use to navigate "yes" (and other positive concepts: good/more/again), and "no" (and other negative concepts: bad, less, stop) questions. There is also an "I DK/same" box at the bottom. Questions do not need to be yes/no with this visual. For example, you could ask:
- How are you feeling today?
- So, how are you doing with your audio lesson on tape?
- I read you this story twice. Tell me if you need another review.
Cut out a large block in the center so you can hold the visual up to your face and observe the direction of the eye gaze. Instruct the student to look at the pictures on the left for "no, bad, less, stop", look right for "yes, good, more, again", and look down for "DK, same".
