This lesson asks students to look at word choice in Ezra Pound's "In a Station of the Metro." Students will understand how the words create an image in the readers mind. They will then write their own Imagist Poems in the same style. Teaching for this lesson should include lessons on imagery based around using the 5 senses. Provide images to help students in writing their own imagist poems.
I included the worksheet and assignment for student poems.
This is a quick lesson. It can be done over 2-3 hour lessons or about 1-2 block lessons.
