This unit was originally intended for Honor's 10th Grade students, but I also use various parts of it for on-level 10th graders. The whole thing could be adapted to suit any level or grade of student.
You could use any or all of the items presented in this unit.
Included in this packet, you will find the following:
• A study guide with guided reading questions and note-taking strategy. Several of the questions were adapted from the student and teacher books from NovelUnits.com: http://www.ecslearningsystems.com/webstore/store/viewitem.asp?keyword=Fahrenheit&idproduct=25404
• Quizzes for all three books and answer keys. Some of the questions were also adapted from the Novelunits.com books, but most were made to reflect more Common Core or AP exam language.
• Graphic Organizers and activities for the following:
o 100 years creative project (for pre-reading)
o F451 web search activity (pre-reading)
o Part I: Mildred and Clarisse Comparison (character foil) project
o Part I: Setting analysis—tone and mood
o Part II: Faber and Beatty Comparison Response writing
o Part I &II: Setting comparison and analysis
o Part III: Symbols and Motif analysis (two versions of this, one is for the whole book)
o Literary Allusion chart (to be done between Parts I and II or at the end)
o F451 Philosophies (post reading)
o Juxtaposition activity—done with parts 1 and 2. This is more of an introduction to the term than anything else.
