Pair students into groups of two or three. Have the "witness" describe a TOP SECRET photo of a suspect to the two "FBI Sketch Artists". The witness will use descriptive details to describe the photo, the better the details, the better the drawings.
I did this activity as an introduction to descriptive details and used it to help explain pacing and sequencing (you can't start with the hair if you haven't yet explained the face). This was also a very entertaining (and easy) activity to do on parent night!
