This lesson starts with a short timed slide show to dramatize how rapidly industrialization has transformed the planet in the last 100 years. It then looks at the scientific and economic background and limits to European agriculture in the 1700s that led to a revolution in agricultural techniques known collectively as the four-field system. This will create and free labor for the new industrial factories provide food to support industrial cities that will spring up around those factories.
In the PowerPoint, the color flowchart develops slide by slide while other notes for the students scroll down the side.
