This lesson comes with two PowerPoints:
1) A short timed introduction to the immediate aftermath (from a human perspective) of World War II. I typically accompany this to music to set the proper mood for further discussion.
2) The second PowerPoint covers Stalin’s takeover of Eastern Europe in the mid 1940s. There is also a discussion of the CIA coup in Iran and its long-term effects to illustrate the growing reaction by the US against Stalinist expansion. The next lesson (FC.138B) continues this with this theme and finishes the flowchart.
In the PowerPoint, the color flowchart develops slide by slide while other notes for the students scroll down the side. There are also extensive photos with captions mixed in to illustrate the lesson and capture students’ interest. This packet also contains a student reading, flowchart, and the author’s own research notes with lots of details and interesting trivia.
Note: because of the large size of this lesson, I had to break it up into two separate packets.
