Product Description
The Fairfax County Public School System in Virginia has new PLANNING and PACING guides for the 2017 - 2018 school year. The first unit in language arts is titled, "Building a Community of Readers and Writers". I have developed my reading lesson power point presentations using the NEW planning and pacing guide for 5th grade and Virginia ELA SOLs, but I think the lesson could be adapted for 4th and 6th grades.

This lesson features learning targets and questions readers can ask themselves when choosing "just right" books.

This presentation is for one teacher and his/her students.

Lesson aligned with and inspired by:
* FCPS ELA Planning and Pacing Guide – 5th Grade; Unit 1

* Virginia Standards of Learning
Communication 5.1 and Reading 5.5 and 5.6
