Product Description
The Fairfax County Public School System in Virginia has new PLANNING and PACING guides for the 2017 - 2018 school year. The first unit in language arts is titled, "Building a Community of Readers and Writers". I have developed my writing lesson power point presentations using the NEW planning and pacing guide for 5th grade and Virginia ELA SOLs, but I think the lesson could be adapted for 4th and 6th grades.

There are three options for teaching this lesson. This is OPTION 1. This lesson helps students DRAFT and REVISE one entry and includes learning targets, an objective, mentor texts, jigsaw sharing, and discussion and feedback stems for students to use when engaged in small group feedback circles.

This lesson explicitly teaches students to write the same piece from multiple perspectives. The presentation is for one teacher and his/her students.

Wonder (2012), R.J. Palacio
