This PowerPoint presentation examines Franklin Roosevelt's efforts to combat the effects of the Great Depression and to bring relief, recovery, and reform to the American people. In doing so it provides a brief examination of the following New Deal programs and laws: Emergency Banking Relief Act, Glass-Steagall Bank Act, Federal Emergency Relief Act, CCC, NIRA, PWA, NWA, TVA, AAA, Wheeler-Howard Act, WPA, Social Security, Wagner Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act. It also examines various criticisms levied at FDR and the New Deal from a variety of critics, most notably Huey Long. It also covers Roosevelt's "court packing" scheme before looking at deficit spending and Keynesian Economics. This rather lengthy presentation can be easily split into two presentations. It is used in an A.P United States history class and is based, in part, on Chapter 32 of The American Pageant, 17th Edition.
