The fifth grade Coordinate Grid System unit contains a comprehensive study sheet and test for G1 and G2 (coordinate grid system). Each study sheet and test has rigor and a spiral review-both of which are needed for your state assessment. The unit also includes answer keys for each document.
Assessments include higher order questions (multiple choice, matching, fill in the blank, and short answer), written responses, and use of skills to explain and/or justify student answers.
I give the study sheet a few days before the unit test. This gives students time to complete it as part of classwork or homework. Then, we go over the study guide to make sure all students understand how to complete each question. The unit test is similar to the study guide but with different numbers in the questions.
On the spiral review, I’ve included skills most commonly missed on prior assessments. Including the spiral review in each assessment allows students to work toward mastery of skills they have not already grasped and to keep skills fresh in students’ minds.
This unit is effective in assessing the students not only on the specific G1 and G2 standards, but also on prior standards as well. Therefore, preparing the students for the GMAS and sixth grade.
There are 4 working pages (not including answer keys) in this unit. Each study guide and test is 2 pages long. Each has questions about the standard(s) being tested and a spiral review.
Answer keys are provided for the entire unit.
