The fifth grade Place Value Chart unit could really be used to enrich fourth grader students or for remediation with sixth graders. It contains study sheets and tests with and without decimals. The unit also includes answer keys for each document.
I give the study sheet a few days before the unit test. This gives students time to complete it as part of classwork or homework. Then, we go over the study guide to make sure all students understand how to complete each question. The unit test is similar to the study guide but with different numbers in the questions.
This unit is an effective tool to use to review previous place value standards as well as current ones. The repetition of this unit helps provide a good foundation on which to build a better understanding of place value. Therefore, leading to a higher level of understanding in all units taught in the fifth grade.
There are 4 working pages in this unit. Each study guide and test is 2 pages long. One study sheet and test requires the students to identify the placement of only whole numbers out to the hundred millions place. The other study sheet and test requires students to identify the placement of whole numbers out to the hundred millions and decimals out to the ten thousandths.
Answer keys are provided for the entire unit.
