This is a great activity to use when introducing figurative language. I use this to start off my poetry unit. Students create a flip book that shows different types of figurative language. Figurative language communicates ideas beyond the ordinary, literal meaning
of words. Students will follow along with the power point and fill in 2 examples of each type of figurative language. They will create a picture for each example, cut out their book, create the title page, and staple it together. All instructions are included.
This PDF includes:
1. flip book template (7 pages included the title page)
2. directions for the activity
3. power point with definitions, examples, and visuals
* figurative language covered: simile, metaphor, personification, hyperbole, alliteration, onomatopoeia
