Figurative Language is the ideal resource to teach your students about various figures of speech. It’s “easy as pie” to use and is a great review of these important elements to help your students put more pizzazz in their writing and prepare for standardized tests.
This unit covers the following figures of speech:
Section #1 • Figurative Language Posters
This unit includes posters that define the ten common figures of speech listed above and provide examples of each term for your students. These figures of speech posters are ideal to display at a language center or on a bulletin board for easy student reference.
Section #2 • Figurative Language Matching Game
There are 28 Task Cards with sentences that students match up with the ten terms listed above to promote a better understanding of figurative language. You can use the Task Cards in two different ways to best meet the needs of your students:
#1 Use as a whole class activity by playing (Directions are included.)
#2 Use at a language center for individualized reinforcement and review. Place the ten Task Cards with figures of speech terms at the center as well as the 28 Task Cards with numbered sentences. Students match the sentences with the correct figures of speech and record their answers on their Student’s Record Sheet. The terms may be used as answers more than once. An Answer Key is provided for your convenience.
