FINANCIAL LITERACY - The Money Trail - Part 10 - Your Personal Earning Potential - introduces students to the different ways money is earned through a job or career. In this part, students will learn about the Federal Minimum Wage Law and how it affects their earning potential as a worker in an entry-level job that pays them hourly. The law also requires employers to pay overtime for any time worked beyond 40 hours in a workweek. In addition to hourly pay, earning a salary, commissions, and bonuses are discussed. Students begin the process of calculating base pay for time worked. A brief introduction to being self-employed as an independent contractor and entrepreneur is included. Activities with answer key includes: calculating base pay; base pay & overtime, base pay & commissions, reducing an annual salary to monthly, semi-monthly, bi-weekly, weekly; and more are included.
