This video lesson is a great introduction to painting with dots!

George Seurat is our focus as we study Pointillism. A supplemental, free, PDF is provided in my shop.

This lesson is great for elementary students. Grades 2-5 especially. This lesson emphasizes color theory and color relationships.

This lesson has Tessa, a third grader, doing the assignment so students can see how to do it and about how much time and effort goes into it. This activity could take from 15-30 minutes for elementary students.

Paint: Gouache or Tempera are best
Q-tips (cotton swabs)
black construction paper

This is such a fun activity! If you have a classroom full of students I can't recommend enough to hang them together and see the amazing fireworks display that emerges! It also never ceases to amaze me how happy students are to paint on BLACK paper. It's such a simple change, but a welcomed one! Kids love the change. Give this lesson a try!
